San Jose Museum of Art UCSC Alumni Event

I finally got down to business with the Silicon Valley UCSC Alumni. I set up a discussion list, led the brainstorming, and headed the planning committee for the first general-invitation Silicon Valley Alumni event in about two years.

We decided on the San Jose Museum of Art and planned a private tour, refreshments, and short talks from two UCSC alumni artists. We invited everyone on the Alumni email lists in the Silicon Valley (including San Jose, Campbell, Cupertino, Santa Clara, Sunnyvale, and Palo Alto). Almost 90 people RSVPed via E-Vite, the system we used to send our invitation.

We met on the Skybridge of the San Jose Museum of Art at 2pm on Saturday, November 3, 2001, and I'm proud to announce our event was a success!

About 50 people showed up to our event. Many chatted before the tour, then left shortly afterward. Others stayed for the speakers, but everyone was gone by 4pm - the time the Museum wanted us all out. They were having some sort of meeting for the directors after museum hours.

Afterwards, I met several alumni walking around downtown as I went out to dinner with one of my fellow event planners.

It wasn't easy planning the event, but I'm glad I did! It was a lot of fun, so I hope we have many more in the future.
