The Santa Cruz Mountains are beautiful in California's wet season (which will be starting soon). Just going for a drive can give you the opportunity to witness their beauty.
This photo of a field of wildflowers was taken along Highway 9 last spring.
Pull out into any of the many vista points along any of the little highways and you're likely to find a trail into the forest. Drive for a few miles and you'll find a state park, a wildlife preserve, horse stables, or an archery range.
If you like taking your own photos, every pull-out can be a photo opportunity, so be sure to bring people who won't mind sitting in the car staring at the scenery!
