Michael and Janet Gray's 20th High School Reunion

For the last several months, my Dad has been organizing the Prospect class of 1970 20th reunion. He's entered names in his database. He's helped track lost classmates. He's written letters and email and paid me to send them. Finally, this month, he got my Mom into the act. Her job was to decorate - one of the things she loves best. Not to mention she got to hang out with two of her classmates and talk about old times and table design for hours on end. (I should know - they used our office.)

I donated the "party favors:" customized bookmarks with a poem (which I found about friendship) and the school mascot, a panther. Of course, each bookmark had my logo and URL on the back. ;-) The bookmarks were even decorated with a special color ribbon to show whether the recipient had ordered the beef, chicken, or vegetarian dinner.

The big event was August 26th, and almost 100 classmates showed up. From my understanding, that was almost half their graduating class. I think that's not bad results after 20 years of losing track!

My mother was NOT happy, though. My Dad spent very little time with her at the reunion, and didn't even get a picture of her, except in the group shot.

The moral of the story is: organizing a gathering is hard work, but it can be worth it. Just make sure your spouse approves AND you spend time with them (preferably showing them off) at said gathering.
