I'm Engaged

March 28, 2006

It was last month that I uploaded John's picture and mentioned we'd been dating, but since he's the first guy I've mentioned on this site, you must have known it was serious. Either that or I must seem very lonely.

On Tuesday, March 21st, he took me back to Mimi's, the restaurant where we had dinner on our first date. He waited until after we ate, then pushed the ring across the table and asked if I'd marry him. I said yes, of course. (If I hadn't, you wouldn't be reading about it.)

The ring is absolutely gorgeous! It's a custom yellow gold diamond ring bracketed by two green garnets because I told him I like green.

Afterward, we went to see a movie. My parents came to see the same movie, so I was able to tell them right away. Last weekend, John accompanied me to the memorial service for my cousin Todd (his tragic demise is Washington news, but still incredibly sad--he was 33), and we announced our engagement to about 75 people on my Mom's side of the family. If anyone missed it, I'm sure they've heard from those who did attend by now.

I have to admit, it's been fun telling people. It's a good thing I have a big family and lots of friends, so I will be able to repeat my good news often without annoying anyone!

Update: Our wedding will be on July 9, 2006 at Roaring Camp. For details, visit my website on the Knot.
